fairy tale “The tinderbox”
Andersen wrote this story inspired by the traditional folktale “The spirit in the candle.” This tale was the first story published by Andersen and wasn’t favorably received by critics who disliked their informal style and lack of morals. Later on, the tale became one of the most popular ones written by the author. In 1946 “The Tinderbox” was the source material for Denmark’s first animated film, and, in 2007, a ballet with costumes and scenery designed by Queen Margrethe II.
I always liked this fairytale for the atmosphere and the three dog characters.
